Creative based education in the spirit of community over competition

On the second Tuesday of every month, Christy has the privilege of leading a group of creative entrepreneurs. Making up 1 of 400+ chapters in the world, the smallest State of Rhode Island gathers together as a mighty group driven by the spirit of community over competition. We want to leave our creative industry better than when we found it. This can be achieved by living out our motto on a daily basis….

Jenny, our event planning chair with All Aboard Event Planning, made tickets for our Knead Doughnut delivery! How sweet!

April’s meet up was held at Rooms & Works located in the Armory District of Providence, RI. This industrial space provides business owners with a community style workspace from 14 furnished private office spaces to 10,000 square feet of shared workspace. With free wi-fi, a kitchen area, meeting rooms, and a printer what more could you need? The Rooms & Works building has been a beacon of makers since 1890. It’s full of industrial charm and inviting natural light designed for the next generation of makers to thrive. We were thrilled when Jenny, our event planning chair, secured this location for our April, May and June gatherings.

Our topic of the month is all about Web Presence & SEO. How lucky are we to have a member within our community who is our resident expert about this area of business!? Chantelle gifted all of us with a worksheet to get our wheels turning to think about how we can change our SEO game in our own business, while providing an excellent talk packed with nuggets of her personal knowledge in this field. She took a topic that is widely known as a gray area to most business owners and turned it into a facet of our business that can be a feel-good way to grow!

Cultural Appropriation vs Appreciation in the Wedding Industry

Before you include it in your wedding day, ask yourself:

Is it something that people have been discriminated against or shamed for?
Does it hold sacred and ceremonial meaning?
Who would I be hurting?
Do I need it to have a joyful wedding day?

If you have uncertain feelings about your answers to these, there is a good chance you should probably leave it out of your wedding day. Better to be safe then accidentally offensive and inappropriate.

When in doubt, don’t do it!
