Let me start by saying the Bajdek and Emmons family were warm, kind and full of surprises.

Their wedding at the Endicott Estate was witnessed by 80 or so of the closest people in their life. But, let me tell you - any outsider would have thought there were 200 in attendance based on their shared joy, roaring cheers and rowdy dancers once the dance floor opened up for the night. Nicole and Stephen's loved ones blessed them with well wishes, shared an incredible meal, toasted to the couples' future and danced into the night up until the very last song.

Cultural Appropriation vs Appreciation in the Wedding Industry

Before you include it in your wedding day, ask yourself:

Is it something that people have been discriminated against or shamed for?
Does it hold sacred and ceremonial meaning?
Who would I be hurting?
Do I need it to have a joyful wedding day?

If you have uncertain feelings about your answers to these, there is a good chance you should probably leave it out of your wedding day. Better to be safe then accidentally offensive and inappropriate.

When in doubt, don’t do it!
