A new year is upon us! As a small business owner, do you feel like the new year brings on a fresh set of struggles?
Wether it be struggling with where to begin your year, what to do, and how to kick off the new year in the right direction, here is a list I’ve compiled to set yourself up for a successful trajectory for 2023.
The last time the Eisley Images blog saw Sam and Ryan, they were newlyweds in Sturbridge! Imagine my delight when Ryan reached out to surprise his wife with a Legacy Session to document the arrival of their baby boy, Nolan. We took photos in Nolan’s sweet little nursery, documented real life moments for these new parents, and then took a walk through their neighborhood where the foliage was showing off! I firmly believe the fog was a paid actor lol
Chelsea and Scott’s Downcity Engagement Session started in their Federal Hill neighborhood with their French Bulldog Benedict. We made our way to Providence’s historic Downcity on Westminster St and ended our night together for some dinner at Xaco Taco!
Three generation family photo session on the beach in Newport, Rhode Island at golden hour. The included both sets of grandparents, siblings, and the grandchildren! We had a blast running around in the sand, climbing rocks and getting to know this sweet family.

Before you include it in your wedding day, ask yourself:
Is it something that people have been discriminated against or shamed for?
Does it hold sacred and ceremonial meaning?
Who would I be hurting?
Do I need it to have a joyful wedding day?
If you have uncertain feelings about your answers to these, there is a good chance you should probably leave it out of your wedding day. Better to be safe then accidentally offensive and inappropriate.
When in doubt, don’t do it!
Your small business is, without a doubt, missing out on clients who aren’t feeling seen / supported / validated / included by you. It may not feel like you’re intentionally setting out to do that, but the fact of the matter is, your words are LOUD.
If you’d like to make easy, inclusive changes to your business, make 2022 the year. It genuinely will not disrupt your way of doing things. Commit to it. Be about it. Do better.

Despite the uncertainty of the world and the humidity, we forged ahead safely! Masks on, separate cars, but a whole lotta laughs and catching up to be had. For me, that has to be the best part of any Legacy Session. Slowing life down and simply enjoying the moment :)

When choosing a name for this session, this little slice of goodness above from Hamilton kept seeping into my thoughts.
