Josefina Sanders with Love Offering
Ever since the Rising Tide Society has swept us both up in a community full of creatives, it's been on our hearts to shout off the rooftops about these incredible humans we've crossed paths with. We show our love through our creative process and our platform. For us that means photography and this little slice of the internet you've found yourself on today. Over the last year we've been diving into personal projects that fuel our creative brains and what we've come across we can't unthink, unfeel, or unsee. This is how it's supposed to be; Lifting your fellow community up! Together we can all thrive. Our hearts are swelling with our latest venture - community recognition + branding!
For our first community feature, I'd love to introduce you to Josefina Sanders with Love Offering!
Eisley Interview with Love Offering
How long have you been pursuing this creative field? Are you full time? If not, how else do you fill your professional time?
I've been pursuing my craft for the past four years, and have been full time for the past year!
How did you get started?
My husband and I had recently gotten engaged and I took on our invites. (Bad Idea, haha) Let's just say that after all the wedding planning, I didn't want anything to do with lettering, decoration or anything else. Three months after our wedding, we were walking through a lot of transition, and I quickly became overwhelmed and depressed. I began journaling and incorporating lettering to my entries. From then on I taught myself how to letter, and have not put my pen down.
Tell us about your business - why the name & what do you offer?
Love Offering is the platform I use to inspire people to create a culture of unity, self care, creativity, and slow living. It's the space where I share my whole self, speak up for those still finding their voice, and advocate for art as a self care + slow living ritual . I love the idea of Loving and Serving people, Love Offering (as the name) fits that well.
Where do see the future of your business leading you?
I see the future of my business leading me towards more opportunities to love others and serve them well through various outlets. I dream on traveling and speaking, teaching more workshops, and creating beautiful things.
What do you attribute your success to?
Success is doing what scares you despite the fear.
To this date, what is one moment that made you sit back and go "yes, this is my why. this is why I am continuing this journey.”
Every time that I walk through a hard season, I immediately draw back to creating. Last year my husband and I walked through a miscarriage, it was the hardest thing we faced together. During that time I learned that though our baby lived for a short while, he/she inspired me, and reminded me that life is short, we need to live purposefully. Every time I think about our sweet babe, I am again inspired and gently reminded that we are to live full and die empty.
One last bit of love and support from Josefina to you:
“I just want to encourage you dreamers to continue dreaming. Use your platform with purpose, and it will continue to fuel your passion. Dream Big, Dream Fierce. - Viola Davis”
Love Offering Lettering WORKSHOP | Hope Artiste Village | May 2018
Christy got a front row seat to a community event lead by Josefina back in May. A group of women gathered at Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket, RI for a night of lettering 101. After light refreshments, Josefina gave each attendee a workbook she created and calligraphy pens. With her guidance and instruction, it wasn’t long before they were learning and creating! By the end of the event, she had helped each attendee create a notecard for a child at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. How sweet and life giving is that? Creation with a purpose. Each person left with a new skill and happiness in their heart.
